What made you decide you wanted to be a dentist? During college, I was heavily involved in biomedical engineering research and loved the creative aspect of manually creating a product that would change lives for the better. I also earned a business minor and found dentistry to be the perfect field in which I could combine my hands-on science background with interest in the business of healthcare! For me, the most rewarding aspect of dentistry is the chance to walk alongside and directly improve patients’ health and confidence.
Hobbies: Exploring art museums, traveling, running outdoors, hiking, reading, trying different foods, and discovering new music.
Interesting fact about me: I grew up in Thailand, the Philippines, and Taiwan. We moved around every couple of years, which taught me to be flexible and open-minded from a young age.
What is your favorite ASDA event? I am looking forward to attending the National Leadership Conference in November, meeting students across the country, and learning about our organizational impact on a national scale.
Favorite dental procedure? Pulling primary teeth using strings tied to doorknobs... Just kidding! As D1 students, we are only beginning our training and exposure to procedures in sim clinic. However, I think gum grafts and other regenerative therapies are incredible! The body’s healing capabilities are amazing and I can’t wait to learn more about them in the future.
What music do you have on while drilling and filling in sim clinic? Fleetwood Mac
Where can you find me outside of school? Probably out hiking with friends or reading at a coffee shop and daydreaming about my future dogs.
What do you see yourself doing in five years? In five years, I see myself starting off in group practice and volunteering with local clinics, or pursuing further training in periodontics.
What is a life goal you have outside of career aspirations in dentistry? One of my dreams is to design and build my own home.
